FYNIRS is an organization whose purpose is to provide a social network for students who have made the decision to live off-campus in their first year at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.

As an organization to welcome students and ease the transition into university life, we work towards these mandates both during Frosh Week, and year round via our Events. In addition, FYNIRS provides a drop-in centre called the Lounge, which is located in room 342 of the JDUC, the student hub for university life.

We are not a faculty-specific group, and we welcome volunteers, FYNIRS or not, who want to get involved!

You should know that you are not alone in your decision to not live in residence - roughly 10% of the student population makes this choice every year!

I hope you have a positive experience at Queen’s University, and if you get the chance, I would highly encourage you to get involved with FYNIRS. It is a decision I would make over and over again.

Best of luck in all your endeavours at Queen's University!
